Dates and Eras

Dates can be written in western form. But on official documents, they need to be written with the Era date.   Format: (era name)(year number in era)(month number + month kanji symbol 月)(day number + day kanji symbol日) Example: 昭和 二年三月十五日(土) = second year of the Showa era, 3rd month, 15th day (Saturday)   See Author Notes section for references where you can find a list of era names and date conversion information.
