Sore Thoat Tonic

Some remedies don’t need magic, but a drop of a potion to kick start the body’s immune system just give them the edge over modern medicines. One of these is the Ohno family Sore Throat Tonic. For generations the family has provided their local communities with this excellent tincture. They share the recipe minus the secret ingredient*.  

Sore Throat Tonic

Ingredients

  2 yuzu, chopped fine with seeds removed
1 inch (2.5 cm) cube of ginger, grated
1/4 c (125 ml) elderberries, crushed
1 T turmeric
2 T chili sauce
1 c (500 ml) honey
1 c (500 ml) yuzushu (yuzu wine)
* One drop of Cold Resistance Potion (see page 42)

Directions

Add 1 T to hot water. Stir. Sip slowly.  
Note
Strong taste and will burn throat at first. But the capacsin acts as a pain killer after the initial burn.

If giving to children, a pepper and alocohol free variety can be substituted.
