The Lekerian Centrail Railway connects the two cities of Mora and Asolios. It was developed by Coddic in the year 836 MOR and changed the economic and cultural ecosystem of the entire region. Suddenly quick and easy transport of goods and people was no longer exclusive to the few people that could afford teleportation magic.
While initially only intended to be used for cargo transport, the benefits of affordable, easy and quick passenger transportation between the cities became obvious. The once multiple day trip by food or horse, was cut down to a few hours on the rails. Visiting another city for a day was suddenly an option to people who never could leave their home previously.
History
Coddic, a inventor and tinkerer from Mora, started to develop the steam engine in the early 820s MOR. It took him over a decade, before he had a working and mostly reliable prototype. He approached the government of Abonaria with his invention and his plans of building a mass transport system between Mora and Asolios. In the year 836 construction officially began. The first phase of the construction focused on laying down the tracks from Mora towards Asolios. This phase saw the use of new and innovative steam- and magic powered machinery, significantly speeding up the process. Many tinkerers and metal workers from Mora, as well as the Academy of Arcane Arts in Asolios aided in the construction of the railway. Still it faced many delays due to difficult terrain and occasional conflicts with locals. After nearly 7 years of construction, the railway was inaugurated in early summer of 842. Over the last 50 years, the railways was further improved and expanded. The initial steam engines were gradually replaced with more efficient models, powered by Magamantine Cores instead. Today the rail stretched all the way to Platos in the north, and Ulios in the east. Construction of another leg of the railway heading to Okodranous on the Golden Coast have been planned for a long while, but traversing the Mountains of Roxtoi by rail has prooven to be more difficult than expected.
