Summer Camp 2022

"To Copper and Beyond!"

Summer Camp is getting closer and closer, day by day and It's my 1...2....3 4th summercamp already!? Man time is just flying by. Anyway, summercamp always has been a great inspiration to flesh out my world, so off course I will join for another round! This year I will try to expand the region of the Golden Coast.

Goal & Motivation

I'm currently running a 5e campaign in the Golden Coast region. I want to expand on this region and add more fun and interesting elements for my players to explore. This way I'm also combining campaign prep with world building, hopefully making it easier on myself.
For me, this year's Summer Camp is all about taking it easy and having fun world building. Challenges and competitions can push us to our extremes, and my best work probably came out of them. In the World Anvil community we can encourage each other to write more and more, and help everyone reach goals they would have never reacher by themselves, and this is one of the things I love about this community
But these events can also be exhausting and draining. Sometimes it's better to take a step back and take it slowly. Sometimes inspiration just doesn't strike immediately (and maybe not at all) and that's also completely fine. Creativity can not be forced, and often you need a break to come up with your best ideas. In the end we are all taking part to have fun world building, right?
This is why I decided to join Annie Stein and hopefully many more for Camp Chill. The Guidelines are easy. Write when you want to and write what you want to. Simply put, don't force yourself to write. If you notice a prompt has turned from fun to work, take a step back and revisit it later. Your best work comes when you are passionate about what you are writing.

Themes

Expanse

There are many region that would qualify as an Expanse in my world, most notably the Steppe of Murokai and the Whispering Fields. I might write a tiny bit in these regions if inspiration strikes, but my plan is to expand the Golden Sea and what lives on, in and around it.

Leadership

The leadership of Okodranous - the city I'm currently working on - is corrupt and only driven by money. There are many more people to explore there, so I will have plenty to write about.

Discovery

My world, and the Golden Coast in general is at the verge of big industrial and magical discoveries. Many tinkerers in Okodranous research the essence of magic and the power of steam and we'll have to see what they will come up with.

Monstrous

Eldritch monsters from the depth of the ocean and corrupt politicians. Do I have to say anything more?
