Conjuration of The New Shroud

Brought into being by a ritual performed by the Cult of Loose Strands in Queens Museum, The New Shroud expanded suddenly through a large portion of Queens, New York, USA. In an instant, over three hundred thousand innocents found themselves trapped in a masterful gauntlet which called forth the same horrors as The Shroud. In the hour following its expansion, the Order of Auditors found the desecrated corpses of the two executives of Valiant Holdings, each ritualistically murdered in a horrendous fashion in the basement of the museum.   Forced to call a retreat as Voracious creatures from The Veil began to pour forth from the mists consuming the city, the Auditors attempted to rally panicked civilians & law enforcement to guide them from the nigh-inescapable gauntlet which had been summoned under their feet. Despite their best efforts, the chaos which consumed the portion of the municipality trapped in the Shroud proved a disorganized, disorienting storm, untamable by even the most willful of Blademasters which tried to coordinate an escape.   Emerging with fewer than sixty three survivors from the thick of the chaos, the Auditors were faced with immediate scrutiny & demonization by the local populace. In the end, no additional human survivors emerged from the New Shroud. Despite offers by The Grand Courts to perform search & rescue initiatives into the New Shroud, an outbreak of hatred & suspicion towards Kindred in the wake of the catastrophe saw their assistance declined.
