The Coven of Hunger

Brigid O’Gowan’s Diary

I am gravely concerned about a few missives I’ve found floating on the breeze. Normally I would chalk it up to silly teenagers, playing pranks, but this is far too specific. I must be further out of the loop than I thought - hag covens moving to the Oregon Coast, why I never thought I’d see the day.   I’ve mentioned it to Alistair, and he’ll join me in patrolling the woods. Wherever these demons come to roost, we must drive them out.   Very curious about this claim of a sleeping dragon though - could that explain the Wandering Mountain?   I've transcribed both messages here for future reference, though it sickens me to add such evil to the pages of my diary.
Come sisters, join us   We have found a new place   A hungry place   Monsters dwell here   Making snacks of humans   Dragons rest, hidden deep   The air is tainted, angry, delicious   Come one, come all, revel in the despair
The Coven of Hunger would like to formally invite any followers of the black arts to make their home in the forest surrounding The Bay of Hunger. We have determined that there are multiple sources of latent magical power present in this area, several of which are already corrupted.   Anyone who chooses to relocate here will surely find that there is a tangible boost to their innate gifts, and that’s with no effort at all. We’re confident that by bolstering our numbers, we might gain enough strength to overtake the dragon - can you even imagine what sort of rituals could be powered via a dragon sacrifice? Local reports indicate it has slumbered for hundreds of years already - there is an excellent chance of subduing it without death, allowing a constant source of suffering to be offered up to our Dark Mothers.   Come, teach the humans the power of a name, make them naming this place Hunger. We shall overtake whatever lurks in the bay, turn it to our purposes. We shall bathe the earth in the blood of any white witches who stand against us. We shall seize this opportunity to regain our rightful power, glory, and place in the world.   Join me sisters, in your new home, the Coven of Hunger.
