Twilight Grove

Introduction

Ahead of you, a once proud and towering forest, is now twisted and gnarled, their branches bare as if scorched by an unseen blaze. The snow, once pure underneath your feet, is now a dull grey, compacted and soil, tainted by a creep decay. There is a heavy mist in the air, weaving between the dying trunks and snuffing out the life of anything it touches. The ground below you is saturated with a sinister rot that turns the soil black. Instead of a vibrant underbrush, there is only the spread of ominous, black mushrooms. These fungi seemed to have sprouted aggressively, their caps lage and bulbous, releasing spores into the chill air. Above you, the sky is an oppressive grey, while a cold, bitter wind moans through the forest.

About Twilight Grove

The Wood Elves have occupied the Mahia Forest for well over 1000 years, with their ancestors being the ones to discover its existence. When they first arrived in the forest, they found its connection to the Feywild to be both extraordinary and dangerous. Wary of the balance between nature and the Fey, the Elves fostered a deep respect for the land around them. Even hunting for food was considered a religious, careful practice. This led the Wood Elves to be more sages than hunters – focused on studying the land and its connection to the Feywild took priority.   The Wood Elf territory, known as the Twilight Groves, is actually divided into three smaller villages. The first village is dedicated to the study and preservation of the Mahia forest. The second is for hunting and trading. The third for housing and culture.   Once the Reclaimation began, there was a tremendous divide among the Wood Elves. They were far more rebellious overall, believing that no man has ownership of this land. Most Wood Elves escaped capture by fleeing into the forest, while others stayed behind to the bitter end. This got worse when it was discovered that the corruption was building rapidly within the grove. Hygrim declared that all Wood Elves should immediately retreat and go to Hygrim for protection – while the Elves were furious that nothing was being done to save their town.   Now, in present day, the entirety of Twilight Grove is corrupted, save for pockets of resistanc.
