Twilight Grove

Introduction

Ahead of you, a once proud and towering forest, is now twisted and gnarled, their branches bare as if scorched by an unseen blaze. The snow, once pure underneath your feet, is now a dull grey, compacted and soil, tainted by a creep decay.   There is a heavy mist in the air, weaving between the dying trunks and snuffing out the life of anything it touches. The ground below you is saturated with a sinister rot that turns the soil black. Instead of a vibrant underbrush, there is only the spread of ominous, black mushrooms. These fungi seemed to have sprouted aggressively, their caps lage and bulbous, releasing spores into the chill air.   Above you, the sky is an oppressive grey, while a cold, bitter wind moans through the forest.   A dirt path is before you, stretching on for potentially miles.

About Twilight Grove

It is said that the Wood Elves have occupied the Mahia Forest for well over 1,000 years, with their ancestors being the ones to discover its existance. When they first entered the forest, they found its connection to the Feywild both extraordinary and danverous. Wary of the balance between nature and the Fey, the Elves fostered a deep respect for the land around them. They spread out across the land, building smaller colonies and spent their days exploring and studying the Feywild connections.   This peace did not last forever as various threats to the forest forced the Wood Elves to rethink their structure. The emergance of Hygrim, in particular, encouraged the Wood Elves to reconcile their people to the NW side of the forest. It is here they build the Twilight Grove, which served as both a haven for Sages while also being a defensive stronghold against further threats to the forest. They were also able to setup friendly trade with the people of Hygrim.   Once the Reclaimation began, there was a tremendous divide among the Wood Elves. Most were rebellious against Hygrim's actions, believing that no man has ownership of the land. Most Elves escaped capture by fleeing into the forest, while other stayed behind to the bitter end. Things got worse as the corruption began rapidly growing outside of the grove. This caused Hygrim to declare that the Elves must immediately retreat and go to Hygrim for protection, a move not listened to by the Sages, who instead opted to move deeper in the hills above.
