The Feast of Blessings is a festival held twice each year in the Harvest Belt of Terramarre, celebrating bountiful wheat harvests and honoring the God of the Harvest.

Observance

Food and High Spirits

The festival is celebrated twice yearly, following the harvest of wheat in the summer and late winter. During the celebration, the people gather together to cook and eat, with a primary focus on wheat-based foods. Though many types of food are served and enjoyed at the feast, the most common festival fare involves wheat in some way, such as cakes and pancakes, pastries, pastas, and breads, as well as fried foods which use batters or breading.

History

The first successful harvest of wheat in the Harvest Belt was a momentous occasion, marking the end of the scourge of darkness that ruined the land for centuries. When the Boharin of the region discovered that the lands were safe and fertile, spirits began to burst at the seams with joy.

Learning Limits

In their excitement, the people reveled in excess for the first time in their lives. Not considering the state of their food stores, they feasted and gorged themselves until they had nothing left of their harvest. This alone very nearly ended the tradition before it began, as they almost starved in the months beyond.
At the following harvest, spirits were high once again, but they learned from their previous mistakes and hosted a more modest feast. They reveled in their survival, and in the blessings which allowed them to feast together again.

The Feast of Blessings is not only a celebration, but a religious holiday in which farmers and residents of the Harvest Belt give offerings to the god of the harvest, in the hopes of seeing continued bountiful harvests in the future.
