Among those who sail the open ocean few are as well known as the pirate Casha and her ship Howling Wind. When she raids a ship, it is preceded by a fierce howling wind and mist that deflect incoming projectiles and obscure vision. This has allowed her ship and crew to get close enough to board the vessels she intends to rob, even when they are designed to keep other ships at a distance. Her ship is also sleek and fast enough that it can outrun most ships making it hard for a heavily laden ship to outrun her.
As far as any can tell, she only robs ships of sufficient wealth, whether because they have more valuables, and are therefore more profitable, or some other reason is unknown. The ships she most often attacks are usually avoided by most pirates as they are well defended, but the capabilities of her ship and her crew have allowed them to be very successful at it so far. She seems to have a particular dislike for the Yellow Mercantile Company, as ships from that company get raided by her far more often than any other.
Given the inherently violent nature of piracy, she can hardly be called gentle, or meek, but she and her crew avoid killing when raiding if at all possible. If a ship captain and crew surrender, they take what the want and then leave the ship and crew otherwise unharmed. They are wise enough to know the benefits of a reputation for fair treatment upon surrender benefits them immensely and will lead to much fewer losses for them. And they know that a reputation for ruthlessness regardless of resistance will only result in more losses for them as those they rob fight to the last believing that they have not other choice than be murdered or worse.
