Jilrina was the firstborn Daughter of Matron Rohenvi Thalluen and heir of House Thalluen. Although a vain and self-centered nature is not rare among Davrin Nobles, Jilrina's impulses were both strong and stifled from the start by an unusually humble and practical Matron. Not only did Matron Thalluen give her own brother, Azed, the title of First Son after the death of Matron Siranet Thalluen, but the Matron afforded him tangible authority to conduct business on her behalf.
Azed and Jilrina were antagonistic from the start, and it was often he who tried to instill discipline and practical knowledge in the First Daughter, with Rohenvi's blessing, which was a humiliating sting for Jilrina upon first realizing how unusually House Thalluen was run. Essentially, Azed held her power and lorded it over her; it didn't look like her Mother would grant her due until she "earned" it (whatever that meant). The remarks from other Nobles at Court and even some from the Sanctuary were unbearable.
Relations grew worse with the birth of a Second Daughter, Kaltra Thalluenduv, yet the power balance did not change. Jilrina began early forming her little sister into a loyal ally and spy against her Mother and Uncle. The time would come when the power would shift.
The cycle that Azed was found poisoned was a great relief and freedom to Jilrina, and from then forward, every unusual trait and method Matron Thalluen used seemed to make her look all the weaker without him. Jilrina's contempt for her Mother had reached its peak to watch her "grieving" for the First Son. Jilrina might have witnessed an unfortunate event surrounding her Mother as well if Matron Thalluen had not become pregnant again!
This next little sister had dark, misty blue eyes the cycle she was born, and they only seemed to become a brighter and clearer blue with each turn she lived.
Before the Story
Jilrina developed an intense obsession for her young sister, Sirana and the same time she realized in truth that any contact with male Davrin disgusted her. Even though Jilrina could have competed for more power with her Mother by bearing her own heirs early, she tried but couldn't stand to have a bua spurt inside her as many times as it apparently took. Even without Azed breathing down her neck and telling her everything she did wrong, she still had pricks needing her to stay in place long enough to satisfy.
At what she saw an unfair test of Nobility, to prove breeding by breeding with the right cream buckets, the First Daughter distracted herself with exploring a new game. Although Kaltra had been subservient to her elder sister's will, Sirana was incredibly stubborn. The challenge aroused her in a way she knew she had to keep secret, although enough visits to Court would eventually suggest there was a place for her in Sivaraus, where her appetites would not be squelched and her nature could flourish.
She had only to gain the attention of the Priesthood. Somehow.
