Dragon
The cry trumpeted across the land, not unlike a victorious trumpet. The smoke floated through the sky, and the people mourned.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The have many sharp teeth, four claws (one opposable) and a dewlap claw on each foot (opposable is only on front legs), long tails, and large reptilian wings.
Growth Rate & Stages
They are considered children until the age of 10, but are not full-grown until the age of thirty.
The first stage would be egg. The wyrmling is encased in a hard outer shell, usually colored the same pigment that their scales will be. Occasionally the egg will look like it has scales.
The second stage is wyrmling. Once hatched, it will look much like a large lizard with small, bewrinkled wings. The wings will be wet, and the wyrmling will not be able to fly for the first couple months of life, when the wings will grow.
Ecology and Habitats
Mountains are the preferred habitat for dragons. They serve as an excellent place to raise young, and protect themselves should they be attacked.
Dietary Needs and Habits
They need to eat at least once every three months. They digest their food slowly, allowing for them to grow without destroying the environment.
Biological Cycle
Every 10-30 years, a dragon will molt. It's scales will loosen and fall, and it will lay on gold to stick to it's skin and make it less of a target.
Additional Information
Social Structure
They live in loose family groups, governed by a head male and female, who are the strongest and most fierce out of the family. It works not unlike a wolf pack, with a few members being designated as hunters, perhaps one or two who are politically based, then a mother figure who takes care of the wyrmlings, and then an omega.
This usually adds up to a group of 5-9 dragons. (Not counting the wyrmlings)
The royal family works in the same way, just on a much larger scale, making the courtat max about 50 dragons. The largest recorded royal family is 53 dragons, not including wyrmlings.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Dragons are frequently hunted down as they will often destroy human villages (Whether on purpose or accident varies), set forest on fire, and run off with livestock. Once killed, their hoards are often taken, and their scales are used, sometimes to create dishware, other times to make armor.

History
The dragons and elves often fought back in the day. The elves won through a combination of holding wyrmlings hostage, mana powers, and political peace talks.
Not long after the humans took power, the dragons bargained for a decent sized piece of land. Within the next 100 years, that land would have to be turned over to them. During the 100 years, the dragons would not attack the humans. They have now declared war, as that section of land has still not been turned over to them.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
They have a poor relationship with the Elf, due to their long history of war. It has led to a mutual distrust between the groups, if not outright hatred.
The same is said of humans. In fact, humans are now being frequently used as a source of food in some areas where the livestock or game is now harder to find.
