Black Coats
No one knows exactly when the Black Coats appeared first in history, but everyone can feel the fear and uncertainty they bring with them whenever they do decide to show up. It is an ancient order of assassins even though some other underground organizations also claim that name. All of that makes it that more confusing to track their real trace through history and if you try to track them down in the present, well, make sure you have already put a down payment on your coffin. Because their name can get much unpleasant attention either from them or the authorities, people mostly refer to them as "crows" if they feel the need to talk about them at all, to avoid suspicion. They are also one of the reason why wearing black clothing is considered a bad omen.
They don't appear to have a solid organisational structure, it is mostly a group of independently acting smaller groups that are usually not aware of identities outside of their little cell. Only the leader has usually a link to another one with whom they exchange notes about various different jobs and operations. Naturally, they are all very secretive and one way how to recognise that you have truly captured one of the crows and not a common criminal is that they will almost always find a way how to end their life before anyone has a chance to properly interrogate them or torture for information.
Their weapon of choice tends to be the dagger or small pocket knives in the shape of a feather that are sometimes easier to smuggle under clothing. They tend to be very direct and open with their methods of murder, they rarely use poison and they usually go for the good old slash through the throat combined with a stab right into the heart for good measure and to make sure that their target truly remains murdered. Some groups tend to favour slashing the stomach instead, especially if the target is someone hated and they want to send a strong message of slow and painful death to everybody else who would like to make them angry.
