Antimagic

An antimagic field is an area where alteration to the weave are forcefully, and immediately, corrected. Those areas can be natural or artificial in origin, and different uses and applications of the phenomena can be found in many professional fields, raging from simple law enforcement to bleeding edge sciences.

Manifestation

Antimagic fields usually work by reverse the casting of any spell made. The caster may not even be aware of the field if they are not proficient with meta-magics or have sufficient training, as there are rarely any physical indications that a given area is affected. Practiced spell casters, namely wizards, may recognize the presence of antimagic fields by noticing small, but incremental changes in their casting as they get closer to the center.   The Elven races are most susceptible to antimagic, as it can temporarily disrupt their biological sensors, causing loss of sight, hearing, smell or taste.

Localization

Antimagic fields usually manifest following magical disasters, such as with the case of the Infernal Storm that can severely limits magical practices from time to time. Much smaller antimagic fields manifest and dispelled constantly inside the Prime Material Realm. Such manifestations are usually microscopic in size, and lasting for no more than a few seconds.   Artificially created antimagic fields can also be created, although much more crudely. While natural antimagic fields can and will depress all forms of arcane magics, artificial ones need to be tuned to specific fields or ever spells in order to work properly. These apertures also often require regular maintenance in order to continue operations, as significant power is required for the field to even manifest.
