Guiding Bolt
A guiding bolt is an Evocation spell that is often used by clerics in combat to mark and damage targets. While the spell has divine origins, it also gained much notoriety for being used by the Inquisition in pursuit of apostates, sometimes leading to permanent injuries.
Effect
A flash of light streaks toward a creature of the caster's choice within 120 feet. A succesful hit by a guiding bolt will result in severe damage to the target, causing it to glow for several seconds as the air ignites and radiates at impact.
Side/Secondary Effects
Beside the damaging effects, guiding bolt recivied its name from the aid it provides when dealing with hidden or camoflagued foes. This use of the spell was mainly developed by the Inquisition during the 1270's Taldirian War for Independence.
