Skala Bashni

Skala Bashni is the eastern cape of the Ostig Plateau. Skala Bashni also refers to the highest peak of the ridge that comprises the cape. Popularly known as Tower Mountain, it is the highest mountain in northern Edora (save the Amadel mountains), and is the deadliest; approximately one person dies on the mountain for every three who reach the summit.

Geography

Skala Bashni is the only 2,000+ metre peak that descends directly into the ocean, and was never climbed from its eastern face. Ascents have almost always been made in Midsum and Latsum, which are typically the warmest times of the year; the mountain's northern location and proximity to the ocean and its winds makes it more susceptible to inclement and colder weather.

Natural Resources

While the eastern cape is devoid of any minerals or deposits, its land is remarkably fertile. With its denizens residing on hilltops and mountainsides, its plains and valleys are densely filled with farms and fields, where farmers toil, sow, and reap as ordered by their vassal lords. In turn, these answer to their baron, who answers to his (or hers) dracunyer duke. To the northern part of the cape lie rocky beaches whose seafloor suddenly drops as much as 83 meters and can occur as early as 27 meters from the shoreline, making it ideal for port towns and trade posts.
