Stonehill Inn

The Stonehill Inn is a modest, two-stroy roadhouse located in Taldirin's City Center. The inn is the oldest operating bed and breakfast in Taldirin, famous for the supposedly bad luck it brings on its owners.

Purpose / Function

The inn started its life as a common house for new prospectors who arrived in town following the decrees of the King of Navara, Tobias Malion. after it was purchased by Toblen Stonehill the common house was repurposed as an inn and tavern, and continued to serves as such since.

Alterations

The second floor of the inn was a later addition, the ground floor contained only the kitchen and a common area filled with bunk beds. The beds were removed and proper guest rooms were built in the newly added second floor, making room for the bar, the sitting area and the small stage.

Architecture

The inn consist of two floors, a main tavern floor on the ground level and sleeping accommodations on the second. The first floor contains the sitting area, a modest bar and a small stage, while the second floor has six rooms of various sizes for rent.

History

The inn was name after its founder, Toblen Stonehill, who arrived to Taldirin to prospect, but found very little success in the hills around, and decided to open an inn instead. Toblen history was somewhat troubled, leading some to believe he was cursed. Some of the inn's later owners, including all of Toblen's children, have also experienced streaks of bad luck or even met with gruesome endings.   While none of Toblen's children expressed interest in running the inn, all died before being able to sell the inn to someone else, with the last of them dying on his way to Navara during the 1270's Taldirian War for Independence, but with the contract already signed in advance just in case.   The inn's menu is also a matter of some mystery, as all attempts to change it in the past have proved disastrous for both the kitchen stuff and the inn itself. These failed attempts have resulted in kitchen fires, stocking issues and consumers anger. The only introduction to the menu was the home brewed whiskey that was originally made by Toblen's eldest son.

Tourism

The Stonehill Inn is one of Taldirin's most famous landmarks. The inn's history and proximity to Taldirin's Grand Hall make it a popular dining and drinking location, with an original menu that has not been updated since the inn's inception.   Another source of fame is the inn being the known residence place of Tobby the Taldirian and of the The Taldirian Townmasters during the insurrection of the Taldirian Sovereign Lands.
