Dwarf

The stout dwarf folk are steadfast, with a proud history of great artisans, builders, and warriors. One of the oldest races in Orsus, dwarves still hold on to their ancient traditions and will stubbornly defend them even if their back is pressed against the wall. Since the beginning of Orsus, dwarves dive deep into mountains reclaiming ancient relics and scrolls from before, uncovering cities long forgotten in the depths of the Earth. However, over time, dwarves have grown cautious in their constant search as tales spread of clans being wiped out by once unknown threats hidden in the darkness.

BASIC INFORMATION

Anatomy
Dwarves average about 4 1/2 feet in height and are very broad, weighing as much as an adult human. Both male and female dwarves pride themselves on the long length of their hair, and men often decorate their beards with a variety of clasps and braids. A male dwarf who is clean shaven is a sure sign of madness, or worse - no one trusts a beardless dwarven man.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Social Structure
The chief unit of dwarven society is the clan, and dwarves highly value social standing. Even dwarves who live far from their own kingdoms cherish their clan identities and affiliations, recognize related dwarves, and invoke their ancestors’ names in oaths and curses. To be clanless is the worst fate that can befall a dwarf.   Dwarves in other lands are typically artisans, especially weaponsmiths, armorers, and jewelers. Some become mercenaries or bodyguards, highly sought after for their courage and loyalty.

CIVILIZATION AND CULTURE

Naming Traditions
A dwarf name is granted by a clan elder, in accordance with tradition. Every proper dwarven name has been used and reused down through the generations. A dwarves name belongs to the clan, not to the individual. A dwarf who misuses or brings shame to a clan name is stripped of the name and forbidden by law to use any dwarven name in its place.   Male Names: Adrik, Eberk, Fargrim, Morgran, Rangrim, Thoradin, Vondal   Female Names: Bardryn, Diesa, Eldeth, Helja, Kathra, Riswynn, Vistra   Clan Names: Amberanvil, Battlehammer, Fireforge, Frostbeard, Ironfist

SUB RACES

Dwarves are divided into three main sub races: Duergar, Mountain Dwarf, and Ironblood Dwarf. Choose one of the sub races presented below.

Mountain Dwarf

Renowned smiths, warriors, and military tacticians, a Mountain Dwarf will stand toe to toe with any man or beast one second, and the next down a barrel of ale in one sitting.   Mountain Dwarf

Even still, your natural affinity for fire drives you to a life of adventure as you kindle your inner flame.   Ironblood Dwarf
