Kijin

The Kijin, also known as demon spawn, are the product of the Demon Lord Gorna's genius. Originally humans that were captured and dragged into the Abyss, they are now more demon than man. A result of a ritual that stiches the flesh of demons into unlucky recipent, causing a violent change to occurs resulting in a new kijin.   Often times, a kijin can be born from a normal human family, seemingly for no reason, and some can appear as normal human for years, sometimes even into adulthood. However, their demonic blood will eventually rear its ugly face, and any who see their demonic features will instantly know what they are.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Kijin are tall and muscular humanoids who stand well over 6 feet and range from 180 to 320 pounds in weight. They have skin tones ranging from red, blue, or gray with broad jaws and prominent canine teeth that resemble fang-like tusks. Their demonic ancestry leaves them marked with a range of eye colors ranging from orange-red, to green-blue or a deep maroon.   Additionally, kijin are born with two horns that protrude from their forhead and grow to various lengths. Kijin males and females ten to have long black or gray hair that is rarely cut, and utilize simple accessories made from bone to keep their hair in check.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Tradition

Kijin tend to take their names from their human cultural origin, or choose a new one upon awakening their demonic blood. Often times a kijin adopts an honor name related to great acts or deeds they have performed.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

The life of an kijin is one plagued by fear and suspicion. Kijin, like a lot of other half-races, have a difficult time fitting in. Stuck between humanity and savagery, kijin are complicated and mostly misunderstood race that always lingers on the edge of wild savagery. They are a people who feel emotion powerfully. Rage doesn’t just quicken their pulse, it makes their bodies burn.   As such many humanoids view them as savage, ugly, and cruel—more akin to demons than their human ancestors. Many kijin simply wish to live a normal life, with no one knowing of their curse. However, others embrace their demonic blood, and wish to live free without persecution from others.   To them, their demonic features are simply another part of who they are, not something to be hidden, and not something to feel shame from. As such, many kijin band together forming tribes and focus on strength and survival, not to destroy, but to survive as an individual and as a race.   Kijin ethics may still vary greatly from tribe to tribe. Some are roaming the lands, taking what they need from whoever has it, others live by a strong code of honor and only fight worthy opponents, and even others tend to isolate themselves from other races by living in the harshest of lands as a test of their will and endurance.
