Black Dragon

The Black Dragons were formidable, serpentine creatures known for their dark, sleek scales that shimmered like obsidian in the dim light. Their eyes, a dull yellow, reflected a cunning intellect and cruelty that few other creatures could match. These dragons were solitary and highly territorial, often acting with calculated malice. When they took on other forms, they preferred shapes that allowed them to deceive and manipulate—humans or elves, often with striking but unsettling features. These forms allowed them to blend in while furthering their schemes, but always with a hint of their true nature.   Black Dragons favored desolate, swampy areas where decay and rot festered. Their lairs were often hidden deep in the marshlands, beneath stagnant waters or inside crumbling ruins long abandoned by other creatures. It was said that the presence of a Black Dragon poisoned the land around them, turning once-thriving areas into lifeless bogs. The air itself became heavy and acrid, plants twisted into unnatural shapes, and any water source nearby grew tainted. Some tales spoke of strange mists that clung to the ground, making the land nearly impassable to anyone not bound to the dragon’s will.   Those who served or followed Black Dragons were often the desperate, the broken, or the ambitious seeking power through dark means. In some cases, whole communities would fall under a dragon’s sway, reduced to thralls that worshipped their master like a god. Others were enslaved, bound by fear or arcane means to carry out the dragon’s bidding. These followers tended to be cutthroats, exiles, or practitioners of dark magic, drawn to the dragon’s promises of power and protection in exchange for their loyalty.
