Dragonnel

Dragonnels were intriguing creatures that bore a distant resemblance to their larger dragon relatives. With their sleek, serpentine bodies and leathery wings, they shared the majestic form of dragons but were smaller and less imposing. While intelligent enough to comprehend speech, Dragonnels lacked the ability to articulate their thoughts, making them enigmatic companions. Their behavior was marked by whimsical unpredictability; they were driven by a relentless desire for food and entertainment. In the wild, they displayed a discerning palate, often refusing to consume anything that did not meet their high standards. Their moods were mercurial, and they took pleasure in toying with their prey, often delaying the kill just to savor the thrill of the hunt.   Despite their wild nature, Dragonnels were sometimes raised from eggs by those looking to harness their abilities as aerial mounts. Domesticated Dragonnels exhibited fierce loyalty to their riders, often to the point of being overly protective, making them valuable allies in the air. However, the process of breaking a wild Dragonnel to the saddle was fraught with peril. These creatures were known to feign compliance, lulling their would-be riders into a false sense of security before launching them into the air and unceremoniously throwing them from great heights. Those who sought to train Dragonnels needed not only skill but also a healthy dose of caution, for the thrill of the ride was matched only by the danger of being betrayed mid-flight. Followers of the dragons often employed these magnificent yet treacherous beasts in their quests, finding both exhilaration and risk in the partnership.
