Glossary <WIP>

The following article contains information on the many places, people, events, and other items from the world of Pretheya. The glossary is split between three columns, and is sorted in alphabetical order.
  • Entries in italics indicate that the word belongs to one of the languages spoken in Pretheya, and has been written as it would be said in-universe.
 

A

  • Amanojaku: The goddess of the unwanted and unloved. Once worshipped commonly throughout Pretheya, she now has less than a thousand followers.
  • Arcana: A technique used by individuals known as esoterikii to fabricate new materials from nothing, through the power of visualisation and emotion in tandem.

B

  • Broban: The last emperor of Karvinasstrad. After his assassination, the empire fell to infighting as no new successor could be agreed upon, and soon thereafter collapsed. Remembered as 'Broban the Foolhardy.'

  • Esoterikos: An individual trained or otherwise proficient in the usage of Arcana. Known as 'Esoterikii' in plural.

  • Forfir: One of the Ormr, who founded the Grannrormrlen and ruled over it for close to a millennia. Known by the other Ormr as the Forty-First, and by mortals as the Wyrm Lord.
  • Fyrstbairn: A race of crystalline quadrupeds who were the first new species created by the Ormr, known for their incredible skill with Arcana. Often referred to as 'Wyrms.'

  • Grannrormrlen: The first Pretheyan empire, the founding of which marked the year 0 on the Reunion calendar. It was founded by Forfir of the Hundred, and was ruled over by him and other Fyrstbairn who survived the War. Persons from the empire were often referred to as 'Grannr.'

  • Heralya: One of the parts of the greater Landamar region, located next to the south-eastern border of the Silver Mountains; it shares a border with Ressengia to the east, Summerlen to the north, and the Riverlands to the west.
  • Holy Ridge: A ring of mountains that surrounds Mount Varosok in Zemet. Term used to refer both to the mountains themselves, and the ring of land inside of them around the volcano.

  • Isalendar One of the members of the Band of the Phoenix: A Speaker who was able to communicate perfectly with both animals and people, and was a skilled archer who wielded the bow Firestorm.

L

  • Leskeln: A group of species whose defining traits are their plant-like bodies. They reside within the redwood forest of Ethlarnashem, and once made war against both the Wyrms, and the Tveirfotr. Also known as the 'Treescourge.'
  • Llakta: A Lyrellin word meaning 'village.'
  • Lyri One of the twelve paladins of the Grannrormrlen, who killed Forfir the Wyrm Lord and tried unsuccessfully to invade Pretheya at the head of an army of Leskeln. She was killed during the Battle of Pasdjit. Also known as "Lyri the Mad", "Lyri of Grestvyt," or "Paladin Lyri."
  • Lyrielle: One of the Ormr best known for creating the Thousandforms. Known by the other Ormr as the Thirty-First. Also known as "Lyrielle the Rainbow Serpent", or simply the "Rainbow Serpent."
  • Llakta: A Lyrellin word meaning 'village.'

  • Ormr: The first species to ever walk the surface of Pretheya, responsible for creating all other races and terraforming the planet into its present state by using Arcana. They originally numbered one hundred, and were known for this reason as the Hundred. Sometimes also lumped in with the Fyrstbairn to be referred to as 'Wyrms.'

  • Pretheya: The continent on which the Ormr first awoke, where the majority of our story takes place. Filled with unusual flora and fauna, and possessed of artificial geography. Thought of by most of its residents as simply 'the world.'

  • Rukhmar: A phoenix who appeared one day in the region of Zemet: She is worshipped as a deity throughout most of Pretheya, and played an important role in various pivotal events in the continent's history. Also known as "Rukhmar the Firebird", or simply "The Firebird."

  • Scalebearer: A regional governor in the Intersedran Empire, named for their possession of one of Lyrielle the Rainbow Serpent's scales.

T

  • Theos: The second Conformity system to be created after Arcana, which allowed for the creation of gods and divinities within Pretheya. It allows the faithful to call upon their gods for aid, and is widely considered a power without equal.
  • Tveirfotr: A bipedal race of sapient creatures first created by Lyrielle the Rainbow Serpent several thousand years ago. Most often simply called 'humans.'
