Noble Soul
You, dear Adherent, are a Noble Soul.

First Choice
When the first spark of light cast away the dwelling darkness of the Great Empty, fate and its consequence were set into an infinite motion of prior occurrences chained together by time. Twelve monolithic entities were born in this new light but yet their actions were driven by the actions before them, they were free of the concept of choice. Unable to conquer the other yet locked in an endless conflict for complete dominance as was demanded by their very existence.
The Cosmos was birthed from these entities only to be destroyed. Each iteration was brought to an end quicker than the last until it was decided that taking the time to create was time better spent directly striking down each other. In an act of defiance to their very nature, the first was made. The Monolith of Order gave its life to take the life of the Monolith of Chaos, fracturing reality and gifting the concept of free will to the Cosmos.
As another light again emerged from the dwelling darkness of the Great Empty, ten entities now stood as beings still chained from the consequences of their past but with the understanding that this new future was completely unknown.
Power of Choice
Imagine now, a realm without choice; a Cosmos of only reactions.
Imagine again, how much power a single man with the ability to choose would have.
Understand now, how much a threat they pose?
In the most simple of terms, a Noble Soul is any Sophont that is capable of making a that is not bound to the deterministic nature of the universe. While most can go about their lives blissfully unaware their every action was determined long before the very Realm they stand upon was born, this reality is quickly shattered when encountering a true Noble Soul.
Lore
Across the Cosmos, certain individuals are born with either a sliver of Primordial Order or Primordial Chaos within their Soul. This alone does not grant them the ability to escape determinism, but as their Soul cultivates so too does the sliver.
The amount of time it takes before a Noble Soul is cultivated to the point that their choices begin affecting fate itself varies based on various factors such as which realm they are from, what species they are, and how religious of an upbringing. Generally, a Noble Soul can be identified before reaching the age of their species' sexual maturity.
Able to alter their fate, Noble Souls command terrific power that, when left unguided, can ruin entire civilizations. Because of this, many important figures on each Realm have mastered ways of identifying and seeking out Noble Souls to recruit or even destroy.
Meta
When contextualized out of the setting, Noble Souls exist to explain why and how Player Characters exist. As you experience the Realms of Ravare as a character, the narrative itself changes to accommodate your interests, the realm's events will eventually become your burden, and every choice you make will have many consequences.
However, the title of Noble Soul is not just granted to the Player Characters. Divine Exarchs, leaders of capital cities, and any character an author might find interest in are all examples of NPC Noble Souls.
Another meta form of Noble Souls can be found in our Elemental Adherents. You, as a reader, can choose a side in the eternal conflict between the 10 Primary Elements. This very act of picking a side lets us as authors know which Element is most favored or more importantly know which one is least favored and needs work.
