On Souls

Introduction

Found on the top shelf, alone, on one of the most prominent bookshelves within Lev Wynmenor. This book is written in Eldish, Ilromnol, and Hulm but is distinctly organized in a manner that allows easy translation between the three languages. The contents of the book are written in a sprawling script that gives the book a unique difficulty while reading it.

Summary

Due to a large number of diagrams, Hulm runework, and three distinct languages the book itself is massive. It outlines how to prove the existence of souls through Necrotic and Druidic experimentation. Then it goes further the claim that each species has a unique "hymn", as it describes it, that is emmitted from their souls. Using the example of a Solmite and a Verdite, Vaeril Keyric claims that magical proficiency is directly linked to the soul, using the fact that only First Men and Solmite are able to learn Hulm.
The book then delves into the explanation that Souls are the very source of Faith, or Creation Magic, that the Divine use to control their domains. Being that each sophont only possesses one soul, it is then understood that is why each Divine is so hungry for worshippers rather than being accepting of a polytheistic faith.
The conclusion of the book states that Vaeril Keyric was going to prove this thesis undeniably by merging several different souls within several distinct hosts.
