Seguro Gra
Introduction
Originally constructed during the War of Smoke & Steel, Seguro Gra is the largest settlement in the Throat of the World and the heart of civilization in the mountains. The massive citadel of ice, stone, and steel serves as the home of the samurai, noble warriors that swear themselves to the Lord Protector of the city. From its fortifications, they assure the survival of The Boreal people and guard against their most ancient enemy: the Udirkith.
Seguro Gra will stand long before you are all dead, long after we have eradicated the last of our enemy, long after even my own demise. It will stand until the earth crumbles away, and the stars fall from the sky. Such is the everlasting might of man.
The Samurai Ryuki
The samurai clans of Seguro Gra, also known as the Ryuki, rule the city and its people under the strict and harsh rule of the Lord Protector. They battle and bicker amongst themselves for scraps of prestige and power within their society where the strong rule and the weak perish. Each of the Ryuki serves the fortress city in their own way, and each makes certain to maintain a sense of indispensability among the city's residents. A tentative peace has existed in the city for decades. But tensions begin to rise yet again as the Ryuki are left unchecked to rule the city.
Ryuki Toma
Commonly referred to as Teloc's chosen, the Ryuki Toma are the center of the city's administrative efforts and are the most trusted of the Lord Protector's Ryuki. Among their many administrative duties, the order of samurai train some of the most skilled outriders on the continent. They are the most powerful of the samurai clans and command immense influence within the city from the palatial complexes of the Okina Level.
Ryuki Mato
Seguro Gra would have fallen long ago if not for the efforts of the Ryuki Mato, chief among those efforts is the magical protection and preservation of the city and its fortifications. Each member of the Matos are skilled arcanists, and within the Maho Citadel, they practice their powerful spellwork. Their magical expertise also serves to keep the enslaved population of dwarves subjugated under the iron will of the Lord Protector.
Ryuki Junjo
The Ryuki Junjo are essential to the survival of the city's large population in the frozen north. The Ember Blossom colony cultivated by the clan allows them to grow food year-round and keep the population fed even in the dead of winter. Few dare move against the Junjo, fearing for the collapse of the city's sole food supplier, which makes the Midori Crescent the only truly neutral ground in the city.
Ryuki Yato
The Ryuki Yato are not famed warriors but experienced spies and infiltrators. They operate several drinking establishments and whore houses in the Stacks from which they gather information from all across the Throat. The Yato are beloved by the common folk of Seguro Gra, and few would dare turn against the benevolent group. If there is anything to know in the Throat, the Ryuki Yato will undoubtedly hear word of it.
Ryuki Hondo
The Godo district is the largest section of the city, and countless Ryuki Hondo footsoldiers patrol its streets. The samurai clan serves as the city's primary guard force and facilitates much of the trade within the city and with the surrounding Garkith tribes. Those who do not serve as guards in the Hondo inevitably find themselves embedded in the world or coin and trade. The Hondo guildhall is a well-trusted bank and mint so far from the civilizations of Haven and their influx of coins.
Ryuki Kira
Once a mighty house, now little more than a corpse of its former self. The Ryuki Kira's members scattered on the winds as ronin samurai after the death of their leader: Urguri Kira. The denizens of Seguro Gra speak of this Ryuki only in hushed whispers and harsh tones, it is no secret that Urguri brought great dishonor to the entire clan. The death of their Atama has left the clan broken, many of its members swearing themselves to other Atama or joining the ronin.
