Medev
An ethnicity originating from Medevék. The Medev culture holds family, loyalty, and stewardship to Gaia as sacred points.
Many Medev are part of a global diaspora, as Magi are outlawed in Medevék. While many wish to shed light on the plight of the Medev peoples, many keep certain cultural practises secret.
Naming Traditions
Family names
Medev people usually do not have family names. Instead, they will use the names given to them by their families. Occasionally people may be referred to by titles or by previous deeds instead of a name.
Culture
Major language groups and dialects
Most Medev ethnic groups speak the language of the same name, Medev. Diaspora Medev are developing regional dialects, based on where they live and the Medev peoples they have contact with.
Shared customary codes and values
The Medev peoples are known to trust others within their ethnic group, and to believe in stewardship of the land they've inherited from their ancestors. To lie to one another would seriously harm their society, so honesty is highly valued.
Common Etiquette rules
The Medev peoples are known to be very polite to others, and to show respect through a series of minor hand gestures near the face. Many diaspora will try to adapt to the custom of the local communities and environment they have settled in, while continuing to prioritise politeness and respect. There is a reluctance to over-share in feelings, emotions or hardships, as this considered a private matter, and possibly one outsiders couldn't understand anyway.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
Beauty ideals aren't heavily pushed or prioritised, but honesty, love and knowledge of one's heritage and signs of a hard work effort are often idealised.
