Zoé's Journal #4 - Session 10

Day 9 - Afternoon  (continued)
I knew something was wrong once I heard the screams and commotion upstairs. Me and Danuar rushed up, leaving the skelly boys and a reluctant Clyde to hide the evidence of our gambling table. Once we made it up to the deck, not only did I see the Marines were getting called back to their ship, but Morgan had apparently grabbed Benedict and pulled him overboard. Without thinking, I jumped overboard to break up the fight between my two crewmates, although once i saw the uncharacteristic grin on Morgan's face, i knew  Grinning Jack had gotten to her.
The possessed Morgan pulled Benedict under, but I managed to grab onto him at the last second, getting dragged down with him. I haven't needed to breathe for years, but I knew Benedict didn't have that benefit, not to mention due to my lack of gills, I was having trouble trying to tap into my magic in the water. Luckily for me, Purferar dove in as well and between the two of us, we were able to subdue Morgan, giving Benedict a chance to escape, but we still had Grinning Jack to deal with.
While Purferar managed to get Morgan to safety, I still had to protect Benedict from Grinning Jack. Despite our predicament, I managed to alert the Skelly Boys who climbed through the port holes and dove in. I'm so glad I invested in the 'premium' top hats for the skellies, more deadly than they seem at face battle. However, much to my horror, Grinning Jack got the better of me and he... I forgot vengeful ghosts could breach armour, and in an instant, I felt my heart stop. The thoughts running through my head: I was going to die, I wouldn't see my parents again, nor Thanatos, Sawtooth, Damian, not even Nina or Jack...
I don't know how long I was under, but as I felt the light about to leave me, I swore I felt something: the siren's song warming my heart, the waters twirling around me in comfort, the familiar skeletal hands gripping onto me. I may be damned, but the Dead mists will not claim me today. with the strength my friends gave me, I managed to pull myself back above the waterline and was helped back onto the ship by the crew moments later. I know I wasn't level-headed at the time, but I was being taken down with Morgan to be patched up, I couldn't help but notice one of the passengers giving me an odd look, Leviathan, I think it was. I know I'm not the best at making friends amongst the living, but i sure hope i haven't done anything to offend him.
Once down in the medic's bay, i saw our boat was quickly moving away from the Marine ship. i figured the Cap'n gave the order to slip away in the confusion. I hope Cedric doesn't mind helping me thank her later, their relationship seemed to had improved greatly since their times as rival sailors.
