Overview

Five million square miles of the sky have been explored. This area is Himinil. It is a collection of many floating islands which house the many kingdoms and cultures of this world. Beyond this area is a vast expanse of sky that continues as far as the eye can see. Several have attempted to explore further into the expanse, but none have returned with any valid findings. Within this expanse of islands, there are three great cultures of significance and several minor peoples.   The first of the great kingdoms is Kritha. Kritha is based on a large island of moderate temperature, and its influence spreads to many of the surrounding islands. Kritha’s capital is a small city in the center of their main island, known as Kritha as well, is called Bescara. But the most famous city in Kritha is Meuclont. Meuclont is a city large enough to hide those with a reason to hide. This is why many travelers stop and stay, at Meuclont. This gives the city a reputation for possibility.   Far to the east of Krithia, lies similarly sized island called Vadath. Vadath has a reputation for being a cold, bitter land to live on. In truth, most of Vadath’s temperature changes wildly. It is true that the Vadathian winters are the coldest, but some of the mountains and steppes on the island can be compared to paradise. Unlike Krithia, which is governed by kings, Vadath is formed of a loose alliance of about 60 or so clans. Some of these clans are large enough to be considered city-states. The islands around Vadath are similarly controlled by various clans. Currently, no real civil wars plague the land as they did in the past. A strong chief, Bedwyr Wathen, has united the clans into a loose confederacy. Now, they are spreading into the skies to conduct trade and sell their services as mercenaries.   To the south, another continent-sized island rests. This island is smaller than the other two great islands. It is also the flattest. This is Mokso. Great plains stretch out on their island, home to herds of bovine. Mokso is ruled by elected officials, which create a board of rulers that have their own self-interests. Mokso would seem like a democracy, but they are closer to a Kratocracy. The strong who rule are ruthless and clever. Their officials usually have poisoned or betrayed a few to get where they are. Mokso is a land that can create a vast bounty of grain and other foods, but the government's rules and laws change frequently enough to cause an inefficient use of their land. They still produce and export much food, but with a good-willed leader, Mokso can feed all of Himinil.

The First Great War

Less than 20 years ago, the people of Himini did not have much in the terms of clockwork or wealth. However, with the expansion of the three great cultures, comes conflict. This conflict expanded into a war between the three of them. This war lasted a decade. But the ferocity of this war was legendary. Technology expanded at an enhanced rate, causing clockwork to be commonplace. Before, clockwork and luxury were limited only to a select few wealthy. After this war, land was redistributed, and everyone found themselves more wealthy. There is an uneasy peace after this war.
