Blue Scales

Once upon a time, when the Eorth was still young and Avalonia swam up from amidst the ocean foam, dragons still roamed the world and some have picked these lands to rest on their long journeys through the air.
People will tell you that there is a lot of evidence etched into the countryside, the mountains and the scorched places of earth to prove all of this, but there is a chance that dragons may still return to the kingdom once more.
Those who dable in the natural sciences have discovered that if you have an ancestor (usually of a troubadour profession) there is a chance that there may be a little bit of dragon blood going through your veins, as back in those days humans were as wild as the beasts and many different kinds of unusual unions were common. 
This condition, while hidden most of the time for an average human lifespan woth the potential of remaining completely dormant, can manifest and trigger a complete change from a human to a full grown adult dragon. This tranformation can vary from case to case, but the most common first manifestation is getting random coloured scales peaking through your skin somewhere on your body.
The most known example of this change taking place is the tale of Blue Scale, who is one of the most known dragons in Avalonian history and has been confirmed by the scholars that he also used to be a person some hundred years ago. His presence can be tracked down through the history, sometime in its margins or background characters on etchings and tapestries, in other ocassion Blue Scale had the priviledge or the curse to affect significant events in the history of the kingdom.
