There are rumours that somewhere in the world hides a dedicated group of followers that still do worship the Old Gods. They are presumed to be the most devoted, some might say even fanatic, when it comes to it. Given the fact that the old religion has been lost for hundreds of years and it also has a terrible reputation in most regions of the world - even if you knew how to recognise these devotees, it would be incredibly hard to find them.
However, they are thought to be guarding the biggest treasures the Old Gods ever possesed - in treasure hunter speech this means the most profitable.
They are the ones who had booby trapped the tombs, they were the ones burning the scriptures that might lead to the discoveries of some of these places, they were the ones willing to sacrifice anyone and anything, including themselves, in the name of the old ones.
Most of the adventurers think they are just a rumour meant to be scaring anyone from trying to dug up more of the ancient graves. Some of the more experience treasure seekers know that they were not just a rumour, as remnants of cloaked figures with heavy colourful tattoos were found buried inside some of the old sacred spaces along with the treasures of the past. They looked way more fresh than grave robbers would be comfortable with.
If uncovering the deepest secrets of the past are your knight order's biggest calling, who knows maybe you might be able to discover some place where these cultists still walk and try to keep their temples preserved and functioning as if the world did not change. You might even discover what helps them stay alive for so long and why they would want to preserve something that the mankind wanted destroyed and forgotten for good.
