Madelana

While little is known about her life, much is known about her melodies, and you can hear them at any significant court of the kingdom. Madelana, sometimes nicknamed the daughter of Aeron, or the Little Muse, is considered to be the most popular bard in the past century.   She was the pioneer of catchy lively tunes that go extremely well with narrating various exploits and adventures and support playful rhymes and rythm, with a very simple and repetitive verse structure. Expanding on popular motives that get shouted in pubs and taverns among the common folk, she added flair and variety to the melody and was able to create extremely catchy ear-worms that are synonymous with having a good time.   About thirty melodies have survived through the ages, Madelana herself passing some 15 years ago. She was buried with her favourite lute in the garden of the new church, but there are several other musical instruments that she had used throughout her life that are still surviving and are occassionally used during important festivities.    Her joyful nature and enthusiams for preserving local tales and legends of various heroes and heroines has inspired renewed passion into the bardic profession and thanks to her it is seen by many as a viable profession and not just a frivolous past time of the drunk. Many new songs are being composed every day in her honour and there has been talks about preparations being made for the first time ever bardic competition, but shush, you did not here it from me.   Besides her music there are also several works of her very bad embroidery surviving from the times when she was employed as one of the ladies in waiting. It was while still a young maiden that she discovered that the needle does not suit her at all and she is much better at wielding strings as opposed to threads.
