Zephyrwing Couriers

Named for the Zephyrwing Falcons that make up their ranks, Zephyrwing Couriers are one of the most widely used forms of communication throughout the continent of Imera. Thanks to their high speed and reliable navigation ability, these messenger birds are especially valued by those who need high-priority messages sent quickly, such as the nobility and the military.

Utility

Zephyrwing Couriers are considered to be the best form of non-magical long-distance communication in Imera. Not only do these birds move faster than most land based messengers, their flight ensures that they have little to no obstacles in between themselves and their destination, further shortening the time it would take to deliver messages.

Social Impact

Ever since the Zephyrwings started being domesticated for use as messenger birds, the time it took for messages to be sent has been greatly reduced, and since the Zephyrwings speed allows them to cover more ground in a single flight, it's also become possible to send messages from further away. While the impact of this advancement in communication on the lives of the common folk is immense (e.g. merchants are now able to reach further trade opportunities), its greatest impact has been on the nobility and military, who can now correspond with fellow aristocrats from farther lands, and who can receive more current intel, respectively.

Complexity

Most of this systems complexity lies in the act of training the Zephyrwings to deliver messages to certain places/individuals, though its much easier to train one raised in captivity than a wild specimen.
