Sisterhood of Saint Sparrow

Founded by an Idean cleric approximately one hundred and thirty years ago, the Sisterhood of Saint Sparrow focuses on compassion and love. A small and rather impoverished sect of the Idean clergy, the Sparrows flit from place to place, nesting in the churches, cathedrals and nunneries of other sects as they distribute alms to to poor, assist the ill and infirmed, and give comfort to the lonely.

History

Named for a woman who eschewed her name in order to think less of herself, the sisterhood rose in the wake of Sparrow's death. The first Sister of Saint Sparrow (other than Sparrow herself) was one of the saint's disciples, who is recorded as Sister Fern. The Sisterhood has little of the political and social power other orders have, it maintains growth through good deeds and some small infamy. There is no official headquarters for the Sisterhood. Instead, meeting places are designated in times of need, and other Idean orders look upon Sisters of the Sparrow as one might look upon a well-meaning but over zealous younger sibling.

Philosophy

Idea gave mortals love and compassion, and it is the duty of mortals to share this with one another. To love is divine, but mortals are mortals. It falls to the faithful to mend the neglect of other mortals. In doing so, the Sisters of the Sparrow plant seeds of good that may blossom into splended flowers or grow into stalwart trees.
