The Pholdan Lakes are a trio of beautiful, lakes teeming with life that surround the village of Pholdorf. These lakes are a vital part of the ecosystem that support a variety of plant and animal life as well as a big part of life in the village, as they also provide a source of water for the village's residents and the travelers passing through it.
Lake Thelis
Lake Thelis is the smallest of the three lakes, situated to the east towards the
Thelian Mountains. The lake is fed by a number of mountain streams and rivers that flow down from the high peaks, carrying with them a constant supply of fresh, pure water. As the water flows down the mountain slopes, it is filtered through layers of rock and soil, which helps to remove impurities and contaminants. The result is a clear, clean water source that is rich in minerals and nutrients.
Lake Sylvan
lake Sylvan is the lake situated to the north of
Pholdorf close to the
Calfert Marsh. This lake has a shallow depth and slow moving water that comes from the marsh. The water is filtered by the many plants within it, making it less murky than one would suspect. The water is teeming with a variety of fish and the lake's shores feature tall reeds and plantlife which provide a habitat for a number of small birds and mammals.
Lake Tal
Lake Tal is the deepest part of the
Talvald valley, where all sorts of small brooks and streams that wind through the valley find their way. The lands surrounding Lake Tal have been ravaged by the
War of the Towers, which has caused the area to become laced with wild magic. Lake Tal itself is still a rather peaceful and serene place, but the water is deep and dark and clearly has been affected by the magic lands it flowed through before settling in the lake. Drinking the water is safe and swimming in the lake is not really prohibited but very strongly advised against by the locals.
Alchemists have tried with varying degrees of success to distill the water down to its most pure magical components and have yet to find any
alchemical use for it.
