Pristine Geometry is a type of magic that works through shapes and patterns. It is most commonly referred to as the practice of creating enchanted items by shaping them into precise (geometric) shapes. One of the key elements of Pristine Geometry is the use of exact geometric shapes and patterns in the design of the object which channel and focus magical energies.
Shaped to Perfection
This method cannot be easily applied to existing items, as it is easier to have an enchanter design and create the item itself from scratch, as the shape itself determines the magic it will hold. An
enchanter must first carefully craft the object itself. Typically they use wood and metal as these materials can be easily molded and shaped, but retain their shape. Gemstones and crystals can also be used by jewelcrafting pristine geometrists, with the added benefit of being able to enchant them
crystal infusion as well. Once the object is complete, the enchanter must then detail and perfect its shape by bending, carving, sanding and possibly sharpening the object. Pristine geometry enchanters are therefore often regarded as master craftspeople as they need a thorough understanding of smithing and woodworking on top of their knowledge of the arcane.
Combined Magic
An item imbued with magic through pristine geometry has the added value that it can also be enchanted in other ways on top of it. Depending on the material used,
arcane impartment can be highly effective to strengthen the object or add another layer of enchantment on top of it. If applied carefully,
runic inscription can also provide this. An inscription that protects the item from breaking or warping is often added, but other types of enchantments can also easily be applied as long as the shape of the object remains intact. Filling in the inscription so that the shape is restored is a way of circumventing the inscription from damaging the shape and pristine geometry. This can be done with precious metals, wooden inlays or in some cases gemstones.
