The Crimson Wight

The Eternal Emperor and overlord of the known world

The Eternal Emperor

The Crimson Wight is perhaps the greatest mystery in the known world. He is a walking miracle, and it's not because he has managed to survive a thousand years in the brutal political field of the Eternal Empire. The Crimson Wight is the only being in the world who is both a blood mage and a necromancer, a feat no one else has ever managed to achieve. He is also the oldest known necromancer and blood mage and many believe he was the first of both variety. This would mean that he is the progenitor of all the blood mages and necromancers in the entire world. This is one more reason the Dominion of Man distrusts those within its borders that deal in necromancy and blood magic.   There are many myths and legends about the martial prowess of the Crimson Wight and the awe-inspiring display of his magical talent, yet the only time he has ever engaged in combat are those few times when he has returned from exile to reclaim his throne. What little histories remain say that the Emperor did fight to claim the first meagre lands of the Empire, but since then has left the conquest of the world to his Dread Lords, the immortal kings and emperors that he had once conquered.   One would think then that the Crimson Wight prefers the game of politics and running his vast Empire, but one would be wrong. The day to day life of the Empire is seen to by the Imperial Council, and the Dread Lords have their own councils and administrators to deal with their realms in the Empire. No, the Empire runs quite smoothly without the Emperor's interference as it has been trained to do for over a thousand years. The Emperor only ever steps in when there is a crises to avert or a plan to put into motion.   What the Emperor then does is somewhat of a mystery, even to his Council and loyal Lords. Often he can be found simply sitting on his throne, unresponsive and dead to the world. Sometimes these "meditations" (as the Council calls it) lasts for a few hours, but a century ago the rumours say that the Crimson Wight was unable to be roused for close to a decade. When he awoke, he left without a word or a recognition of the time past and went to his fortress.   The Crimson Wight has personal and private fortesses across his Empire, and he moves from one to another without rhyme or reason. No one is allowed within his fortresses (even if he is not there) except his own personal undead thralls. His immortal slaves are unquestionably loyal to him and have never spoken a single word of what occurs within the fortress walls.

Physical Description

Special abilities

Necromancy, both as Lich and Reaver. Blood magic, both as Bloodletter and Chimera. Proficient with all known Words of Power.

Apparel & Accessories

The Crimson Wight's secretive disposition naturally extends to what he wears. No part of his skin (if he has any left) can be seen. From head to toe he covers himself in deep red robes and whitewashed armour plating. On his face he wears a mask that only vaguely resembles a human. The only hint that there something underneath the layers of metal and cloth is the ghostly green light emenating from the mask, the telltale signs of the undead.

Personality Characteristics

Hygiene

The Crimson Wight has never been seen to take care of his appearance or his hygiene. Being undead, he cares little for his physical body, and there are rumours (although unsubstantiated) that he simply moves his consciousness to another undead host once his current one starts failing him.   He takes a similar approach to his clothing and armour. He never washes them, always wears them, and replaces them piece by piece as they become too frayed, ripped, broken or rusty to do him any good.   The only things he does care about being kept clean are the imperial buildings and facilities. His own tattered and rusted appearance stands in stark contrast to the immaculate cleanliness of his throne room

Social

Family Ties

The Crimson Wight has no known descendents or other relatives.

Religious Views

While he has never spoken about his own religious beliefs, the Emperor cares little about what gods his subjects worship, as long as it doesn't interfere with imperial business. As he is believed by many to be the progenitor of all necromancers and blood mages, some of these worship him as a living god.
