Ianus Autofactory
Ianus Autofactory is the first fully-automated space station created to manufacture spaceships with Rotation Drive technology.
Ianus was constructed by Transeŭropa Demokratia Reto (TDR), which secured the funds through several global rounds of fundraising between the years 24 GE and 30 GE. It began construction in 32 GE, and construction was completed in 86 GE.
Products
Over the entire life of Ianus Autofactory it produced three classes of rotation drive vessels, all designed and patented in the TDR: De Sitter Model Vessels (uncrewed probes), Witten Model Vessels (small short-trip data-collection vessels), and Hořavas Model Vessels (expedition vessels for long-term trips or permanent observation posts). Although the TDR has retained ownership and primary control over the Ianus Autofactory during its entire life of operation, it has always freely leased spaceships to the Cruz Corporate Empire and Zhongguo Corporate Empire, and during limited periods agreed to manufacture specific models at the request of, and for purchase by, both Cruz and Zhongguo.Production Periods
Ianus has not operated continuously since it first began production. Periods of active construction and repair have been broken up with periods when the orbital station has been effectively dormant. Active periods have always corresponded to periods when there was considerable excitement about, and investment in, space exploration, specifically: Project New Ariel (91 - 111 GE), Project Expedition (123 - 213 GE), and Project Yacatecuhtli (240 - 302 GE). The TDR directed Ianus to discontinue manufacture of both Hořavas and Witten crewed vessels during the 20 Year War, and manufacture of these models never resumed. Although Ianus Autofactory remains continuously operational in order to carry out repairs on operational vessels in fulfillment of leasing contracts with Cruz, it is otherwise dormant and it has not manufactured any new vessels since 302 GE.
