Yunida

Yunida is a strange village on the one of the many islands that make up the Shattered Sea. While Kunda is know for its large formations of the strange Starshards, Yunida has the highest concentration of the mineral compared the rest of the islands. It is generally speculated that if a cataclysmic event truly created the Shattered Sea, that it may have occurred near Yunida. The island has a growing population as trade becomes more frequent there due to its convenient location as a midway point for many traveling ships and its rumored trading with the Feywild, though it has never been confirmed.

Religion and Beliefs

Melora and nature are highly revered by the natives of the island, and the populace believe that their island is a blessed place. Spirits of Nature are said to protect the island from those who seek to harm it and this adds to the natives' belief that Yunida and the island she was built on are protected by otherworldly powers, thus the spirits are also revered on the island. Pristine rivers make fresh water abundant, fishing for fresh and salt water species comes easily, and the native fruits and vegetables are abundant. A beautiful expanse of jungles and unexplored mountains offer those brave enough to explore the untamed parts of the island the most breath-taking of views. The white-sand beaches seem to be adorned by the very stars at night. Visitors may notice that the locals very rarely venture very deep into the wilds and those that do are extremely experienced hunters, lest they risk never returning. Local fauna are noticeably larger than average and can be more ferocious as well, while the flora are also said to be larger than average and some may be dangerous.
Once a month the locals observe a day of rest and contemplation on the day of the full moon, and once dawn breaks the island is covered in an unusually thick fog that blankets the whole island as it descends from the mountains that usually house them. This is also said to be when the jungle and wildlife are the most dangerous.
On that day deep in the forest in a very mystical grove the walls that separate this world from the Feywild become blurred.

The Grove

"Melora's Grove", as the locals call it, is a secret place nearly surrounded by mountains at the very center of the island and is very rarely visited by the villagers. The entrance to the Grove is merely a crevice between two of the mountains just large enough for a cart to pass through. Starshards are found in high concentration around the Grove and the air seems to hum with a strange energy. Magnificent and bio-luminescent plants unknown to the mortal plane grow here, but none of the villagers dare harvest anything from Melora's Grove.
