Memoric Memonic
Cameleon Metal of the Memoria
Memonic is the short name that those of the Mortal Lands have come to use to refer to this ancient and mysterious component. This now-rare and valuable material was used by the Memoria in just about anything they built, including the Mechanical constructs that now dot the landscape. The full, scientific name is only pronounceable-and comprehendible- by the Mechanicals themselves. Unfortunately, none have awakened that know the secret to reproducing this mysterious material.
Sadly, Memonic is Nigh-impossible to come by for anyone but seasoned adventurers. Storehouses of Memonic can only be found in ancient strongholds of Memoria, most of which have vanished to time or long since been claimed and sacked by emergent kingdoms throughout the eons. Those that do find these ancient storehouses have only just begun their arduous hunt. The Storehouses are usually carefully guarded by Mechanicals not yet awakened to the modern expectations of the Mortal Lands, and are duty-bound to protect their charge. The Storehouses were not built for normal humans to navigate, either-they are less traditional warehouses than vertical silos stretching deep into the earth, meant to be navigated only by the automatic transporation and acquisition system.
And that is only the beginning of their woes...
Properties
Material Characteristics
Memonic is, in its base and unaltered form, grey and rather dull. Explorers have found untapped storehouses lined with rolls of Memonic, carefully guarded against the elements.
Memonic's ability to mimic other materials give it great versatility in the form, feel, and shape it can take, but this also means that the material is not durable or long-lasting as say, traditional wood or metal.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Memonic's special property is that it can mimic other materials that it is placed near. Put in a window, for example, and it will mimic the other panes of glass around it. Put at the bottom of a barrel and it will mimic the wood right down to the grain and the aging.
In a world scrambling to rebuild itself after years of calamity, Memonic has become extremely precious, being used to repair or at least patch everything from storefronts to battleships.
