The Lantern of St. Jordan

Oh, Wandering Pilgrim!   You who have walked in the footsteps of the Creator   And all who have come before   Find your rest in this humble chapel   Where the sacred bones lie   of our guide and patron.   And when your journey calls you on   take with you a light, blessed with holy waters   and touched to the lantern of the fallen Saint   that you may walk with him on our everlasting pilgrimage.

A Light in the Darkness

For as long as Chapel de [name] has stood, Saint Jordan's lantern has kept its vigil, flickering in the dim alcove that guards the saint's remains. The final destination of many a pilgrim that has taken the Pilgrim's Walk over centuries, the Lantern gives comfort and serenity to all that see it. Members of the The Church of the Creator hold that its light is a symbol of the eternal faith of St. Jordan, and how his light guides other to follow the Creator and accept the Savior as his son.   Pilgrims that complete their walk are given a small candle that has been touched to the Lantern. While these do not have the eternally-burning aspect of their larger counterpart, they do last far longer than one would expect the candle to last. These candles are so valued that they are often passed down from generation to generation.

History

The Lantern of St. Jordan is a treasure and a relic that the saint carried on his journeys spreading the ministry of the Church of the Creator. There are few records as to the source of the Lantern itself, although common myth is that he recieved it when he lead the refugees of Dalreme out of Linder. It hung constantly on his belt ever since, traveling with him as he wandered.   St. Jordan's final resting place is the Chapel de [name], nestled in the heart of what is now the Eternal Battlefield. His lantern was set in a reliquary above the casket holding his remains. It was only after his death that it was discovered that the lantern could not be doused, extinguished, or covered. When the Chapel was ransacked in the early 1000s, The Lantern and the Relics of St. Jordan remained untouched.   Even today, when The Chapel stands in the middle of an abandoned wastleand, determined pilgrims will take the Pilgrim's Walk to find the lonely chapel, to leave flowers and tend to the saints' shrine. And still, the lantern flickers on.
