Personal history
Timothy Dalreme IX was born in trying circumstances, for a child; the castle and dominion that was meant to be his destroyed in a horrible fire on the Night of Falling Crowns when he was but a few days old. At least, this is what Regent Fitzroy has told him many times over the years. Further complicating matters was the emergence of a 'false' heir to the flames, carried by the King's royal advisor. The kingdom split into two, rallying behind either the Advisor or Fitzroy, who had borne Timothy safely out of the flames.
Knowing what he does about Regent Fitzroy, Timothy has taken much of this early history with several large grains of salt.
Timothy spent his early years either in the constant care of a nanny or a tutor-The Regent was too busy learning how to run a kingdom to pay him much mind. Even as he grew older, and saught simulation outside of the basic books the tutor provided, he was more ignored than noticed. Many quiet, dark nights were spent stealing to the library in his mother's ancestral estate, craving new material.
When he reached his teen years, he started sneaking into the Council building. It had become more than clear to him at that point that the Regent had no interest in properly fufilling his education. It was pure dumb luck that he stumbled upon a Council member's private meeting with a merchant while avoiding a guard. However, the Council Member saw potential in the young prince, and took him under his wing as an administrative assistant. In secret, of course-officially the Prince was not allowed to leave the palace except under escort.
Timothy thrived. In a small way, he finally had a hand in the proceedings of his kingdom. As the years passed he went from scrawny assistant to one of the sharpest aides in the Council room. Any backroom meetings or hidden deals were bound to pass by Timothy's desk at some point or another. Slowly, the Kingdom began to turn from mere stabilization to, if not posterity, then progress.
Now nearing the age of maturity (pushed back several times by Regent Fitzroy), Timothy looks to properly take the throne and finally sort out what will become of both Lazuli and her sister kingdom, Ruben.
Education
Timothy's education is one of a self-taught genius. While he did have a tutor in his younger years, he quickly outstripped all that his teacher was able to provide. However, the Regent did not want to invest in further instruction. He'd gotten by with a basic education, after all.
Timothy's fortunes changed when he became the assistant of one of the council members-he became well versed in politics and trade through practical experience.
