The Gods form factions, with many joining the Conqueror and some remaining loyal to the Shieldmaiden. Those loyal to the Shieldmaiden became known as The Aegis (or the Shields of the Realm) while those who joined the Conqueror became the Arbitri, those who would decide the world's fate.

The Conqueror's first ally, Morrow, was an ascended mortal much like the Conqueror himself. Morrow succeeded in creating an new branch of magic, necromancy through unnatural experimentations with Source. Upon ascending, Morrow immediately set to constructing The Conqueror his army, targetting small settlements at first before growing bold and aiming for cities.   Within a year, Desus and Fesus the twins had joined the Conqueror. They felt the Shieldmaiden had constrained them for too long, they fierce powers would finally be appreciated under the leadership of one as ambitious as the Conqueror.   Avarice was originally a God of Harvest and one of the most highly worshipped Gods in the pantheon. While his power was minimal compared to his peers, his influence in the mortal realm was unmatched. Some have speculated that his union with the Conqueror came primarily from a desire to acquire more followers, with less Gods alive, more would turn to him for prayer.   Serra, the Goddess of Beasts loathed civilisation for their continued aggressions against the creatures of the forest. The Conqueror promised Serra a land for herself, one that no being but her and her children could inhabit and in doing so he guranteed her loyalty.   Nocturne was less of a direct ally to the Conqueror, so much as she was already in open conflict with her brother Solus. The knowledge that she could infact kill him turned her proxy war into a series of battles between the two, which the Conqueror supported.
