Knarr Sailing Ship

The Knarr is an old design sailing ship that were built for long voyages. They are cargo ships averaging a length of about 16 m, a beam of 4.6 m, and a hull capable of carrying up to 122 tons. Speeds of up to 10 knots can be reached. Knarrs routinely crossed Lake Jorakk and travelled the shores of Mare Nostgard for centuries carrying livestock and goods around. It is capable of sailing around 120 km in one day and holds a crew of about 20 to 30. This type of ship is used for longer voyages and also for hazardous trips because of its famous reliability and longevity. It is even so that an 'Krasse Knarr' has become a synonym for a vivacious oldtimer.
