Special abilities

Super-sensitivity: This extends to all his senses, meaning he has abnormally good sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell, but the main part of his power is the ability to feel other people's emotions. This power is amplified by touch; people touching him conduct their emotions to him more strongly. This power is involuntary and always "on," and the constant ebb and flow of other people's emotions can be extremely overwhelming.

He lived for a time with a rich, elderly man who took pity on his condition in the troubled city. After a while, though, even the man's large house wasn't enough to block out the emotion that assaulted Wallace, and he tried to leave, but couldn't make it out of the city before he was too overwhelmed to go on.

Social Aptitude

Extremely reserved. He tries not to show much emotion since he can't ever be sure if it's his own emotion or someone else's. His general attitude is very anxious, and he shies away from anyone passionate or prone to outbursts. He does not do touching, at all, ever, from anyone, except Ren, and even she makes him very uncomfortable.

History

Ariadne is always passionately angry over something, and Wallace's least favorite emotion to feel secondhand is anger. He has tried to get along with Ariadne and find a compromise, but she refuses to accommodate for his power. More than once their interactions have devolved into shouting matches, both of them fueled by Ariadne's anger. Wallace always feels awful after, but Ariadne is outwardly unrepentant, though she does feel some some sympathy for Wallace's struggle with a difficult power.

History

Wallace was the one who rescued Ren from the scientists, and she has attached herself to him like a loyal puppy. She is absolutely devoted to him and loves to be around him, petting his hair and laying her head on his shoulder. However, Wallace has no idea how to feel about this. He can't feel her emotions the same way he can for anyone else, which is simultaneously a relief and a source of profound disquiet. On his better days, he might let her touch him, but for the most part he tries to convince her to keep a respectful distance. If he gets the message across, she's more than happy to do as he asks, but she'll continue to gaze lovingly at him no matter how far away he gets from her.
