The Ice Cream Truck

Maybe it was first made to hunt demons. Maybe it is the result of a child's nightmare. There are many possible explanations and the entity driving the truck isn't answering. And both driver and vehicle seem able to show up anywhere in the world.   The cheerful, happy, jingle played as it moves through neighbourhoods carries with it invisible vines that lure various creatures from other realms in. The back of the truck is partially overgrown by plants from the Thicket of Thorns, creating a portal that sucks in both monsters and innocent souls. Those lost to this portal are thrown into a frozen wasteland where they will likely die from the cold eventually. When they do, their frozen bodies fall apart into a fine powder that is harvested to make the ice cream in the truck, carrying the flavour they liked the most in life.   There is a small door somewhere in the wastelands that leads back to the truck and a possible escape, but finding it is difficult. The children who have made it out end up scarred. The few who manage to put themselves together often become hunters. The rest spend their lives dealing with psychological trauma.   The driver is an unassuming man in simple clothes. People often forget about most of his traits except for the friendly attitude, kind smile, and surprisingly scarred hands. Those who are familiar with such things would identify him as having fought various monsters and be hurt by the Thorns. This speaks to a past as a hunter of some sorts and maybe that's why he continues to do what he does. Though, it could be argued that the cost outweighs the benefit if the ice cream truck hunts demons.
