Lightfever

Caused by exposure to Moonpollen, Lightfever is a lengthy fever dreaded by parents all around. So severe are its symptoms, that whenever Moonpollen are encountered, farmers will don protective gear and search for multiple days to destroy all they can find. Grown adults still recoil in fear, remembering the dread they went through as a child. Some even do not survive it.   It isn't just the duration of the fever that makes it so terrifying, but also the height of the fever. Victims must be kept cool at all times, and out of sunlight as well, for even a single ray of light can make them feel like they're burning. Often the fever is so bad, that even a candle will cause antagonizing pain.   Three days and nights, is what farmers tell each other, that is how long the nightmare lasts. After roughly that long, the fever will break. After two more days, all symptoms will be gone and a victim will regain their energy.
Duration
Approximately three days
Symptoms
  • Incredibly high fever
  • Extreme sensitivity to warmth
  • Extreme sensitivity to light
Lethality
High when weak

Benefits
The severe symptoms do come with an interesting upside, which has led to rare cases where explorers deliberately exposed themselves to best handle extreme conditions. While sensitive to heat, the body becomes numb to cold. So hot does one burn, that extreme cold might not even cause any harm. This is perfect for exposure to snow, ice, or cold waters.
As for the sensitivity to light, this too has an unexpected benefit. While even the dimmest of light can blind one, in total darkness one's eyes improve. Even those normally not capable of seeing in the dark, will find themselves capable of telling apart shapes and more. And those with natural darkvision will become able to identify even the tiniest of details.
