Hadrashar

The New World, land of opportunity

Colloquially known as the New World, this is the center of all intrigue within Vestara.   Originally named Nolaer by the first Old World explorer to set foot upon Hadrashar, T'Shel, its named was changed after the first encounter with the Nomads when the mysterious peoples referred to the land as it is known now.   Since its discovery 36 years ago, expeditions and numerous colonies have been established, grown, and in some cases wiped out on its shores or upon some of the many islands of the Touq Archipelago, which surrounds the massive continent. People from across the Old World clamor to the idea of making their fortune in the New World in a land of opportunity and adventure. Thousands have made this place their new home, away from the Kings and Emperors of their former lives.   Adventuring and exploring have become synonymous in Hadrashar. Some adventurers have come back from exploration parties into the continent, packs heavy with gold and carrying magical items unlike those in the Old World. Some adventurers come back broken, terrified and ravaged by the horrors they encountered in the wilderness of the great sands, the Nujah Desert. Other adventurers don't come back. Whether they have taken upon residence in some new place or whether their lives are lost, none can say.   The most notable trading commodity in Hadrashar is the glowing-jade like substance residuum, or crystalline magical essence, which can be utilized by magic users for a multitude of purposes. The abundance of residuum and other treasures directly led to the founding of a number of colonies on and around Hadrashar.   This new land is yours to explore and make a life in. Its future is dependent on your own.

Geography

Hadrashar is dominated by a large desert, the Nujah Desert. Throughout the desert there are oases, rivers with fertile river beds, and some march lands in the river deltas, making the land habitable in some areas. There are two mountain ranges that are known, the Ishalad Mountains to the south east and the Ruul Mountains in the north. To the west a sizable jungle, the Faranmal Jungle, about 1/8 of the total land mass of Hadrashar dominates the western coast and expands out towards the Ruul Mountains.   Most of the other geographical features are unknown as they have yet to be discovered.

Fauna & Flora

Much of the Nujah Desert lacks much plant life. Around the oases and river beds tropical flora grows in abundance, including fruits and palm trees. In the marshlands grass reeds and papyrus are very common. Grass tends to grow in areas with a water presence.   The fauna of Hadrashar are hardened by their extremely arduous lives. The beasts and other creatures that live in the the Nujah Desert are much more dangerous when compared to their cousins in the Old World. Sub-humanoids such as goblins, trolls, and other like creatures also survive out in the desert or in the Faranmal Jungle. The most notable creatures, however, are the sand worms and aberrations which are unheard of in the Old World.

Natural Resources

The treasures that exist within the ruins of Hadrashar are typically sold back to the Old World, if the adventurers who do the delving decide against keeping them. Meaning usually that the best treasures stay within the hands of the explorers and adventurers who find the items, and the more common artifacts are sold for pure profit.   Residuum is also extremely common in Hadrashar, sometimes massive deposits being uncovered. This crystalline magic is unfathomably powerful within the hands of a magic user and is sold in the tonnes back to the nations of the Old World.
