The Nujah Desert

The massive desert which dominates Hadrashar, this is what most people think of when they think of the New World.   Cruel, brutal, and above all uncaring, the Nujah Desert is where many adventurers find their fortune, or meet their end. Home to the Nomads, the indigenous people of Hadrashar and to a host of other creatures which are even less friendly the Nujah desert is the last word in danger.   Ruins litter the landscape of the Nujah Desert, and it has been concluded that a great fallen empire existed in the Nujah Desert and were somehow able to thrive in its harsh environment. Something made this great civilization fall however and the sands overtook the structures these people built.   Although some colonies have been settled more inland, many of them are located where the Nujah Desert meets the Bajmid Ocean, outposts away from the deadliest of things within the desert sands.

Geography

Much of the Nujah Desert is comprised of great dunes with oases and river being somewhat common. The desert encompasses the Ishalad and Ruul mountain ranges to the south east and north, respectively. In the west the desert seems to abruptly end where the Faranmal jungle begins, for unknown reasons.

Fauna & Flora

Much of the Nujah Desert is devoid of any flora, however there are abundances of plant life around the river deltas, marches, oases, and rivers that dot the landscape.   The fauna are tough and vicious creatures, ranging from small bands of beasts to the massive sand worms. Aberrations have also been known to traverse the Nujah Desert and take up residence in the many ruins. The ruins themselves are sometimes home to what remains of the fallen empire that once spread across the land. Occasionally, sub-humanoids such as goblins and kobolds take over the dark lifeless ruins, ridding the area of the empire's remains. Sub-humanoids also have been known to make small settlements where water flows out along the sands.

Natural Resources

The biggest resource of the Nujah Desert, apart from the multitude of treasures found in the ruins, is residuum or crystalline magical essence. Residuum can be found in large deposits in all across the Nujah Desert, which is the main reason for the multitude of colonies and trade lines established to the New World.
