The Bunkinwickle Exception

Codified by the Council of Clockworks, Year 6429 Article 47.2: Non-Gnomish Enrollment and Honorary Status

In recognition of the extraordinary contributions made by Jaime D. Buckley, a human of foreign origin, and in acknowledgment of his demonstrated allegiance to the Gnomish people and adherence to the values upheld by Clockwork University, the following legal exception is hereby instituted and shall be referenced as The Bunkinwickle Exception.

Section 1: Purpose and Scope

1.1 The Bunkinwickle Exception permits, under extraordinary circumstances, the enrollment, academic participation, and degree conferral of a non-Gnome individual within the confines of Clockwork University, a privilege historically reserved for Gnomish citizens alone.

1.2 This exception acknowledges the individual’s significant and verifiable contribution to the academic and cultural integrity of Clockworks City.

Section 2: Eligibility Criteria

2.1 The applicant must have demonstrated exemplary academic achievement and innovative contributions that are indispensable to the advancement of Gnomish society and technology.

2.2 The individual must be deemed a "Gnome in Spirit", signifying their alignment with Gnomish cultural values, work ethic, and intellectual pursuits.

2.3 Such individuals may only be considered for enrollment upon direct recommendation from the Council of Professors or an equivalent university body.

Section 3: Legal Considerations

3.1 Upon conferral of a degree, the individual shall be granted honorary Gnome status, permitting them full academic rights, privileges, and obligations equivalent to those of Gnomish citizens, including, but not limited to, the ability to publish research, attend future academic sessions, and hold honorary titles within the university.
3.2 The Bunkinwickle Exception does not extend to non-academic activities within Clockworks City unless expressly approved by the Council of Clockworks.

Section 4: Limitations

4.1 This exception is to be applied only in cases of extraordinary merit and cannot be invoked for the purposes of casual enrollment, general education, or diplomatic favor.
4.2 Any individual found in violation of the terms set forth under this exception, or found misrepresenting their identity, shall be subject to immediate expulsion and may be barred from future interactions with Clockwork University or Clockworks City.

Section 5: Amendment and Revocation

5.1 This law may be amended or revoked only by a two-thirds majority vote of the Council of Clockworks.
5.2 The council reserves the right to revoke honorary status should the individual’s actions be found in contradiction to the values and integrity of Clockworks City.
