Veydänkev

The Dragon Herat of Spring

When the gods looked down upon the Verrdrä, they saw intelligence fulfilling the measure of its creation. Those with greater knowledge, wisdom, strength and power...being of service to lesser beings.   Thus in love, the gods gave the Dragon Lords a wonderful gift: The ability to take upon themselves the form of mankind. To be able to walk among the higher races of the world and mingle with those on two feet and experience the tender emotions and passions denied those within the animal kingdom.   What the Verrdrä did not anticipate, was the trial of being each would experience. For nothing in life is given without its opposite. One cannot know pleasure without pain, joy with out suffering. To this end, the passions of mankind did prey upon the heart-song of the Dragons.   In the end, the unthinkable made itself manifest: The great black serpent, Vebränmiekkä (Brann) (Dragon of the Fiery Sword) turned from the very song that granted fulfillment and offspring to those of his kind because he sought to satisfy the passions he experienced in mortal form.   He turned from his chosen mate, Veydänkev, forever denying her a companion and offspring...banning her to a life of solitude and suffering.
